ABOUT ME
I’ve been playing jazz and cocktail piano professionally for thirty five years, and teaching piano for twenty-five years. I studied privately with the renowned jazz piano teacher Alan Swain, and took jazz harmonization and improvisation classes with him at DePaul University in Chicago. I was one of the original staff pianists at Nordstrom Old Orchard when they opened in 1993; I’ve played on the cruise ships docked at Navy Pier and in countless hotels and country clubs. I teach high-school students who are in their school jazz bands and combos as well as classically trained pianists (and piano teachers!) who want to learn how to play jazz and cocktail piano but who don’t know how to go about it.
